  • Overview

This online educational program provides a practical framework for optimizing anemia management in patients with lower-risk MDS. Expert faculty examine how clinical and molecular factors can guide treatment sequencing, including consideration of emerging therapies and clinical trials, while addressing proactive monitoring and management of class-specific toxicities. The program also explores when earlier intervention may be warranted based on factors such as worsening symptoms, increasing transfusion burden, declining functional status, and persistent reductions in hemoglobin.

  • Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners should be better able to:

    • Sequence anemia therapies based on clinical and molecular factors in patients with lower-risk MDS, including clinical trial participation
    • Proactively monitor, interpret, and manage class-specific adverse events associated with anemia therapies for lower-risk MDS
    • Identify patients with lower-risk MDS who would benefit from earlier therapeutic intervention for anemia to optimize treatment response
  • Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of hematologist-oncologists as well as all other physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals involved in managing patients with MDS.
